Design Trust for Public Space
The designs featured in Designing the Taxi were generated by some of the nation's top product and industrial designers. Following our series of workshops, participating designers were asked to rethink the taxi experience for both the passenger and the driver, and they had just three weeks to develop their ideas. The breadth and quality of ideas presented here are remarkable – and many served as design inspiration for the new Nissan NV200 Taxi of Tomorrow currently on our city's streets.
Designing the Taxi provided broader exposure for these transformative visions of the New York City cab’s future. Illustrated with with imaginative renderings, the book is divided into two parts, “The Taxi System” and “The Taxi Vehicle.”
