Plexiglass artwork by Mollie Serena

On June 18th, Design Trust and the Community Design Team for Opening the Edge hosted the "Lighting the Edge" art installation at the Lillian Wald Houses on the Lower East Side.

Designed by Community Design Team member and now Fellow, Mollie Serena, Lighting the Edge is a temporary art fixture of colored plexiglass pieces hung on the fence surrounding our future Opening the Edge site in celebration and anticipation of moving into the final phase of the project when we can eventually remove the fence altogether. The event featured DJs Matthew Hall and Mas Corazon as well as performances by singer Jade Altamirano.

You can stop by the installation some time this summer, located at Avenue D and East 4th Street. Check out our gallery below for more images of the event! You can also follow our @openingtheedge instagram account to stay up to date on the latest for this art installation and the Opening the Edge project!
