A Community Design Team at Lillian Wald Houses is rethinking a fenced-in area on Avenue D between 3rd and 4th Streets, to transform it into an open, public space for residents and the community.

Lee Jiménez joined our Opening the Edge Fellows team in October 2018, to work with community members on incorporating colorful, durable, or educational art, reflective of Wald culture and history. 

Lee Jiménez is a Queer, non-binary, Afro-Nuyorican self taught street photographer from the Lower East Side. Jiménez is a storyteller who aims to amplify the voices of marginalized communities and showcase the beauty that is birthed out of struggle. Jiménez draws inspiration from the hood, street culture, and the African diaspora, allowing them to reach an audience that is often left behind in the movement for social change.
