We announced Untaped, a new initiative aimed at removing barriers around community use of public spaces.

New York: City Designed kicked off its inaugural year and hosted seven CUNY Macaulay Honors College students at internships across city agencies, non-profits, and private-sector design and architecture firms, preparing the next generation for careers in the planning, design, and preservation fields. 

With residents, Green Space Connections broke ground on new open spaces at public housing campuses in Brooklyn and the Bronx, while Opening the Edge prepared to start construction at the Lillian Wald Houses in the Lower East  Side.

The Neurodiverse City conducted sensory audits and design-imagining workshops at two public space sites with neurodivergent communities to develop public prototypes that showcase more inclusive urban planning practices and support the greatest range of physical and neurological differences. 

Photo Urbanism Fellow Latricia Morgan unveiled her exhibition at the Bronx Council on the Arts, highlighting power and glamour at NYCHA.

We threw Public Space Potlucks with New Yorkers at 60 Wall Street, Smiling Hogshead Ranch, and Socrates Sculpture Park and advocated with public realm coalitions to call on NYC to pass important legislation ensuring NYC stays public for all. And our Benefit for Public Space surpassed our fundraising goal to make all this work possible!
