Design Trust’s Opening the Edge project is working with a Design Team of NYCHA residents to create a community space at the Lillian Wald Houses. Join us for a day of arts and crafts, chalk painting, free food, and music. The event will celebrate community-led space beautification and art-making.

Follow @openingtheedge on Instagram for more information and updates. Together with community members, we’re developing a prototype for a lively public space on the Lillian Wald Houses, which could be replicated at other NYCHA developments. In Phase I and II of the project, we led a participatory design process to envision the potential of the space.  As we work toward the last phase of the project with groundbreaking and building the final design, Opening the Edge is hosting events to activate the space and support a resident-led friends group to program and steward the space into the future.
