Michele
Adams, P.E., is a Water Resources Engineer and founder of Meliora
Environmental Design. For more than 23 years, her work has encompassed
environmentally sensitive site design and sustainable water resources
engineering. In all her work, Michele seeks to combine sound engineering
science with an understanding of natural systems. Focus is placed on
“rainwater as a resource” and stormwater management techniques that return
rainwater to the soils and vegetation to maintain or restore a site’s natural
hydrology.
With
extensive design experience in techniques such as porous pavements,
bioretention, vegetated roofs, and landscape restoration, Michele believes
that a multi-disciplinary approach is critical to designs that restore natural
systems. Her work includes both master planning and site design for
campuses, urban restoration projects, commercial and residential installations,
public facilities, and environmental education centers. Michele currently serves on the U.S. Green Building Council’s Sustainable Sites Technical
Advisory Group, and is a frequent lecturer and educator on the topics of water
and sustainability.
