Our executive director Susan Chin received the award at the ASLA Annual Meeting in Chicago, on November 9, 2015. The Olmsted Medal was presented to the Design Trust in recognition of "the organization's genius in fostering unconventional partnership with city agencies and community collaborators to tackle complex issues of land use, policy, and funding." The award committee noted, "Their (Design Trust's) work can be seen, felt, and experienced throughout all five boroughs of New York City, inspiring and informing cities around the world."

The Olmsted Medal was instituted in 1990 to recognize individuals, organizations, agencies, or programs outside the profession of landscape architecture for environmental leadership, vision, and stewardship. The Medal honors Frederick Law Olmsted, considered the founder of the American landscape architecture profession.
