"Connecting Staten Island's Waterfront"

Gareth Smit, 2016 - 2017 Photo Urbanism Fellow

This spring, we’re building community through memorial, discussing NYC waterways, and exploring the city through Photo Urbanism.

Read our most recent newsletter for project announcements, recent additions to the Design Trust team, and opportunities to get involved in public spaces this spring!

Here are the highlights:

  • Just announced: We’re partnering with the Van Cortlandt Park Alliance to shape a permanent memorial space at the Van Cortlandt Park Enslaved African Burial Ground.
  • Over 400 New Yorkers joined the Design Trust, Commissioner Rohit Aggarwala, and infrastructure expert Kate Ascher to discuss the vast and largely unseen network that handles our drinking water delivery and wastewater treatment.
  • Applications for this year’s Youth Photography Fellowship are open through April 6, 2025. Look back on over twenty years of the Design Trust's Photo Urbanism program through Springtime Bingo.
