Join us for a conversation on new forms of connectivity among the diverse people and environments of NYC, at BRIC House on Tuesday, January 26, 2016.

In 2014, The Energetic City request for proposals was born out of the idea that a city’s vitality comes from the energy of its inhabitants. An independent jury selected four proposals from nearly 100 submissions to become Design Trust projects.

At the Energetic City Forum, a multi-disciplinary panel of Design Trust Project Partners and Fellows will highlight their efforts to reimagine uses of physical, social, and cultural assets and public space in all five boroughs. The program will explore connections and differences between the two recently completed projects:

  • Laying the Groundwork design guidelines for ground-floor retail and community spaces in future mixed-use affordable housing developments;
  • The World’s Park community design school where Queens residents developed proposals to improve the access and circulation of Flushing Meadows Corona Park;

As well as the two projects that are about to commence:

  • Opening the Edge aims to create a prototype of lively public space at the edge of a New York City Housing Authority development in a collaboration with residents;
  • Future Culture will explore ways for Staten Island's cultural community to engage in planning public space on the North Shore waterfront.

Attendees are eligible for 1.5 AIA LU | HSW continuing education credits.
