As part of their Taxi of Tomorrow program, the
New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) has released a
Request for Information (RFI) to automakers with the goal of bringing the next iconic taxi to New York City's streets.
"The Design Trust's Taxi 07 project served as the genesis of the Taxi of Tomorrow program," said TLC Chair Matthew Daus during a TLC hearing on February 14, 2008.
This new vehicle would include key specifications identified by the
Design Trust's Taxi 07 project, including a smaller environmental footprint, compliance with applicable ADA requirements, and an iconic design that will identify the new taxi with New York City.
