PARTNERS

Most Design Trust projects are collaborations with community organizations or New York City agencies – groups that become our project partners. If you represent a public or non-profit organization, we can help turn your complex urban-design issues into a manageable project, then connect you with top-notch professionals – our fellows – who can generate solutions. This page lists our current and past partner organizations.

How Do Partners Request Sponsorship?

Prospective project partners should submit a project proposal. Generally, a proposal outlines a design or research project that requires activities or resources beyond the scope of the partner's budget, expertise, or institutional structure. We work with prospective partners to hone their proposals, then submit the most promising to a jury for review. Each year, our juries select one to three projects for Design Trust sponsorship.

What Kinds of Projects Get Sponsored?

Winning projects propose new ways to plan and use New York City public spaces. Ideally, projects focus on the early stages of planning initiatives and leverage targeted expertise to affect fundamental policy or programming decisions. Projects that address issues of social justice or environmental sustainability receive priority.

City Government

By partnering with municipal agencies, we ensure that our projects address the tricky political and logistical issues that often keep good design intentions on the drawing board.
