Join us on Tuesday, April 25, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, at The Point Community Development Corporation (940 Garrison Avenue, Bronx) for the launch of Design Trust's open call for project ideas—Public for All: Rethinking Shared Space in NYC.
Public space is created for—and belongs to—all of us. In today’s political climate, we must affirm and ensure that New York City’s public realm provides places of refuge and play, congregation and demonstration, and dialogue and exchange. Keeping these spaces thoroughly public poses challenges and opportunities at every turn—be that site selection, funding, design, governance, or operations.
We invite NYC community groups, City agencies, and individuals across the five boroughs to submit proposals for research, design, and planning projects to unlock the potential of NYC’s shared spaces, including underutilized and under-resourced community assets.
An information session will hit the essentials: What the Design Trust is looking for, submission process, proposal selection, and project development. Design Trust staff, Board Members, Partners and Fellows will be on hand to answer your questions.
A moderated conversation will focus on the insider's experience of working on a Design Trust project. Speakers include:
After receiving project submissions, the Design Trust will select a group of finalists, who will present to an independent multi-disciplinary jury in mid-July. The jury will select up to two proposals to become Design Trust projects.
