Friends of the Design Trust gathered at Rafael
Viñoly Architects on October 12, 2004, for a benefit auction
for the Design Trust for Public Space.
In honor of the Halloween season, the evening featured over 20 one-of-a-kind
working lanterns, created for the event
by top names in the design world, including
Isaac Mizrahi, LOT-EK, Antony Todd,
and Ali Tayar & Natalia
Echeverri.
A silent auction included artwork
and objects by a diverse group of
over 120 artists, including David Smith,
Cindy Sherman, Ross Bleckner, Chuck Close, and David

The evening included cocktails, Brooklyn
Brewery’s finest,
and creative catering and service by
Rice. Local favorites Chanterelle, Bottino,
and Restaurant Florent also provided
delectable treats. The Design Trust thanks
Kitty Hawks, event chair, and Suzanne
Slesin and Michael Steinberg, auction co-chairs. Special thanks to
our event sponsors, Rice, a culinary pioneer in Nolita and DUMBO,
and Maharam, a New York-based textile firm committed
to progressive environmental practices.
