Position Summary
The Design Trust for Public Space, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving public space in New York City, seeks an intern for 1-2 days a week for the fall semester of 2011. This internship is unpaid. Graduate students in a related field of study (urban studies, planning, policy, architecture) are preferred.
The intern will work primarily with the Director of Programs on
Making Midtown, a project to guide the future planning and development in Manhattan's Garment District; and
Five Borough Farm, a project examining how urban agricultural activity could be expanded citywide. The intern will also be asked to contribute to other ongoing initiatives and activities, including public space potlucks and research on potential future projects.
The ideal candidate will be a good writer and independent researcher with previous office experience, and proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, GIS and Microsoft Office. The position will include both project-related and administrative work for the Director of Programs and when necessary, other Design Trust staff. Whenever possible, Design Trust interns are included in site visits and project meetings.
